Thursday Igloo Update

Yinzers,

There is really no big news to talk about today. The Pens upcoming games against the Carolina Hurricanes tonight at 7:00 in Raleigh, Friday night in New Jersey at 7:00 and Sunday night in Tampa Bay at 5:00. This is a big road trip for the Pens as they try and catch the Washington Capitals and stay ahead of the rest of the Eastern Conference. There will be a lot of back-to-back and every-other-day games scheduled from here on out, so we'll be trying to keep healthy.

The only big news lately has been with Matt Cooke. The league has decided to not suspend Cooke based on decisions that have been made this year. They did not suspend Philthadelphia Flyers' Mike Richards for a head-check on Florida's David Booth back on October 24th, causing Booth to miss 45 games. Reports say that the league wanted to stay consistent with prior decisions. The GM's meeting did address the issue of head-checks and I will be willing to bet that there will be tougher consequences in the future. I just hope they don't turn the league into the No Hitting League...like the No Fun League is trying to do with football.

By the way, there was a movie shot in Pittsburgh recently. The movie is called "She's Out Of My League" and the 'DVE Morning Show (either Jim Krenn or Randy Baumann) got to go to the pre-release screening and gave it great reviews. The discussions this week were about how laff aht lahd funny the movie is, how beautiful the city of Pittsburgh looks in the movie and how gorgeous the female characters are. That's 3 wins in my book, I will be going to see it and you should, too.
Enjoy the game tonight and go Pens,
B Brog
