less than 30 some hours till playoff football............

Hey Yinzers,

So here we are at Playoff Thursday. I am Pretty excited about Sunday and the possibilities of the Steelers heading farther into the playoffs. I have heard alot of playoff talk and No-body is really talking about the Steelers. People are giving the go ahead to the Panthers and the Eagles so far, but the toss up games are the AFC games.

Once again, In my AFC bias, it is because the competition is on a different level. The titans hosting the #2 defense Baltimore Ravens on Saturday -will be very interesting along with the Steelers hosting the Bolts on Sunday. I have full confidence in the Steelers taking care of Business in the late hours of this upcoming Sunday. As for the showdown in Titan-ville. It could get interesting. I kinda hope that the next round ( god willing ) will be in Pittsburgh.

So then , in less than 30 some hours I will have 25-30 people pre gaming at my house for the Steelers match up....it's what I live for.

So the Pittsburgh Penguins broke the 5 game loosing streak last night against the Hapless Atlanta Thrashers 3-1. Petr Sykora had two power play goals and Sidney Crosby had the other. Geno Malkin had two assists and still leads the NHL in points scored. This is great news. We haven't had a loosing streak like that in so many years.The pens have to get some confidence and really turn this thing around- if not 9th place in the standing won't be the only problem with the Penguins.

Hey Yinzers,

I am not really into getting or giving out awards, but in this case it was well deserved. James Harrison was named the Ap Defensive player of the year. This is an open and shut case for Harrison that set a new sack record for the Steelers this season. He also had numerous fumbles and is the 5th Steeler to receive this award.

Congrats James Harrison, from all of us here at the MSM.

Playoff Drama

Hey Yinzers,

So the stage is set for the final run toward the super bowl. In the NFC the Eagles will play the World Champion Giants, and the Carolina Panthers will host the Arizona Cardinals. The big buzz in the news this weekend was how could the Eagles possibly do this, it is simple they did it because the NFC for the past 12 years is always up in the air. Let me explain, The AFC is pretty much set in stone from the beginning of the year, Patriots ,colts, Steelers , Ravens etc. The NFC is a crap shoot. The cowboys were supposed to be there and they are not, the Cardinals have no business being there but they are. ( kinda see my point). So it is always exciting for me to see whom gets in - in the NFC.

As for the AFC, one big upset from this weekend, was the BOLTS beating the COLTS. In my opinion no one really played that well to begin with. I am not really impressed by a 9-8 bolts team coming into Pittsburgh on Sunday. But the intriguing match up of the weekend would have to be the Ravens at the Titans. This is going to sound cliche' but the ravens will either beat them or not-duh. It kind of depends if the Titans bother to show up or if Jeff Fisher can have his squad ready.

PENS

This season is starting to look pretty Grimm for the Pens. The team is just missing something this year. They are not playing like a team, and the Power play is really non-existent. What is wrong with the pens? do they have Asian bird flu- come on .

They are at the Rangers 7-7:30 start on VS.

Finally

Nix heckler got his wish yesterday, when the Louisville Cardinals beat the visiting Kentucky Wildcats. what a game. Edgar Sosa hit a 3 with under 3.1 to play. It was a pretty fantastic finish.

Wild Start to the Wild Card Weekend!

Hey Yinzers,

So there are Playoff scenarios a plenty.....For the Steelers and the Titans in the AFC. Tonight the 8-8 chargers knocked off the MVP(Mayton Panning) and his Indianapolis Colts. The NFL is just amazing , the two games that we watched tonight were both very exciting ( AFC more so) but both were worth watching. So I want you to think about this, is it more important to win the MVP and be recognized individually , instead of being recognized at the end of the year as a team that won it all- a championship. What is more important?

The Falcons were beat by the Cardinals in the first playoff home game in 61 years in Arizona. You could have fooled me that Kurt Warner is on his way out of this league. At 37 years of age he led his team , a very young team I may add to a very improbable win against the best rookie quarterback since BIG BEN. The falcons kinda fell apart quick in the third and the Cardinals never looked back.

Ok so this brings us to tomorrow's AFC scenarios, If the Miami Dolphins beat the Baltimore Ravens , then the Dolphins will get the Steelers. If the Ravens win then the Chargers come to Pittsburgh.

-Like I said before it doesn't matter whom the steelers get, it is going to be up to them at gametime.

I really am not too tuned into the NFC, but I will have a complete run down on both divisions on Monday.

One final comment , I had the chance when I lived in St.Louis to go to The big 12 championship game and I was lucky to see Darren Sproles( chargers hero) play and win a Big 12 championshipin Kansas City. He really does have another level.

So this year as a Pittsburgh fan is off to a crapola start, the Pitt Panthers lost the most boring game in college football history yesterday 3-0 to the beavers of Oreagon State Beavers. The Pittsburgh Penguins are getting Hammered they have won 4 out of the last 12 games and Finally Penn State was embarassed by Southern Cal yesterday in the Rose Bowl ( score not needed).

The Steelers are a 2 seed in the Playoffs and after this upcoming weekend can see whom they will be hosting at the confines of Hines Field. Like I said before I really don't care whom we play- I think that if the O shows up, and the D is the same D we have seen all season. Then the 12-4 Steelers should play one game at a time, and with a little perserverance should do fine.

Finally ,

I called it first when the gamecocks were slated to play the Iowa Hawkeyes I said that the Gamecocks would fall by at least 60 points. I was close. 31-10. I think that Spurrier is out the door on his own and alot of our players are leaving for the NFL. We are back to Garnet and Black hell.

Penguins Loose again last night to the Boston Bruins again.
