Basketball Heaven

Yinzers,

So This is the beginning of Basketball heaven for most of the country. Most mid majors and most little conferences have been decided on whom is going to the dance. But for the Major conference Today is the start toward a national championship. The NCAA really did get it right with doing the Tournament format from the very beginning. Unlike Football the Rankings go by from week to week and it really doesn't matter until the end of the season. It matters where you are in your Tournament and if you are lucky to get into the Field of 65- well that is another story.

Tonight at 7 the Pitt Panthers are playing West Virginia in the third installment of the Back court Brawl. Along with MIZZOU and Louisville whom tip off in about an hour. South Carolina plays tomorrow against the winner of the Georgia - Miss ST. game. I have been very fortunate to go the tournament for the Sweet 16, Elite 8, and Final four- but the most electric game I have ever been at was the National championship . -great time of year!

Good luck to all our Homer teams, and I hope everyone enjoys watching Basketball for the next two weeks-straight.

Finally other sports.........

Hey Yinzers,

So tonight the South Carolina Gamecocks had a pep-rally for their student section the Garnet Army. So far this season the Gamecocks are 17-5 and undefeated in SEC play at home. We have three home games remaining and I think that the gamecocks may make the tournament.

In Rivalry Week action PITT basketball went head to head in the Back-Court Brawl at the PETE up in Oakland tonight. early on the Panthers struggled with Blair and Fields going out about the 8 minute mark of the first half. Final at the PETE: PITT 79-59

Duke and North Carolina play tomorrow night in Durham, I have been lucky enough to go to that game a few years back. Franklin Street in Chapel Hill is the place to be.

Louisville KY is of course my second home next to the Burgh, the Cardinals are on the road to do big things this year. But they have to quit having nail bitters every night. I wish the heckler would have words with them .

In another knockout Rivalry game that I have been a part of, Mizzou hosted Kansas tonight. I can honestly say that Jay hawk fans( gus primus not included) are the biggest A holes- next to A rod( not our rod but the Yankees rod). The only tigers that I like.

More Burgh stuff to come this week. Trying to get back into my normal rotation.

Watch 3 seconds....in the paint

Hump Day( don't tell mom ) !

Hey Yinzers,

So here we are at Rock-tober, just waiting on the leaves to change and the Football story lines to unfold. College Football is totally unpredictable this year, and has been quite interesting from start until ............the finish.

Baseball Playoffs start to heat up as the Phillies will take on the Revamped Joe Torre Dodgers, and the Reining champs the Bo-sox host the Unheralded Rays( no longer the Devil Rays) .

Over all with the pirates out of the mix and not a real emphasis in SC except for the Braves- Baseball season unless you are from the North east is dead. The season is in the Coffin. Pretty exciting I will make my prediction and I am not sticking to it by any means but I would like to see the Phillies vs the Bo Sox ( my luck it will be ) Rays, dodgers- oh well it is baseball.

NFL

So Jeff Reed is day to day with a calf muscle injury, this is another chapter in the Steelers are good and injured this year book. Thank goodness for the Off week. I am looking forward to just getting some work done this week- I also needed the off week. They will be back next week with Willie Parker and Co. vs the 0-5 Bengals. I am kinda worried about this game because you can never tell what a wounded Bengal could do.

NHL

Well The penguins are back home and resting from a long trip from Neutral land. It was great exposure to get over there and sell more Sidney Crosby Jerseys. In fact I think it is necessary for every Hockey fan to own a piece of Penguins merchandise at one point in their lives.

College Basketball

Why the hell can't I find Basketball schedules for this year, if someone can find me a preseason ranking or list of teams any where - help a brother out. I heard through my friends in Louisville that The Cardinals have a preseason ranking of #2. But I would like to see how far up they put Kansas as being over rated as usual this year again.

Here is another spooky Halloween video: ok kinda dumb!

I hope every one has a great Wed, and We can finally talk football tomorrow.
